Twist: A Stylish and Sculptural Console Table

A Unique Design Inspired by the Game Twister

Twist is a stylish console table with a chamfered top and two twisted legs, designed by Ipek Memikoglu and Dilsa Gunaydin Temel. Unlike other console tables with four legs, Twist stands out with its sculptural look and unique design elements.

The tabletop and twisted legs of Twist can be customized in various material combinations, allowing for a personalized touch. The two twisted legs start at the center and end at the two opposite sides of the top, forming the supporting frame of the tabletop. This design choice adds visual interest and creates a sense of movement.

A metal frame with cut-outs and a supporting structure underneath the tabletop provide strength, continuity, and connect the twisted legs. The sides of the tabletop material are chamfered, adding an elegant touch to the overall design. The metal frame is chamfered on the inner side to match the chamfered cut of the tabletop material, while the outer side remains straight.

Measuring 1000 mm in length, 300 mm in width, and 800 mm in height, Twist is the perfect size for placement in entryways, hallways, or dining rooms. Its versatile design allows for the display of books, lamps, plants, and various accessories.

The realization of Twist involves the use of high-quality materials and precise craftsmanship. The tabletop can be made of marble or colored tempered glass, while the twisted legs are available in rose gold or chrome electroplated steel, or black powder-coated steel. The legs are welded to the metal frame on opposite sides, ensuring stability and continuity.

The design process for Twist began in January 2022 in Ankara, Turkey. The designers, Ipek Memikoglu and Dilsa Gunaydin Temel, aimed to create a console table that stands out from traditional designs. The main challenge was to achieve stability with two twisted legs while showcasing the chamfered cut of the tabletop without concealing it.

Twist has been recognized for its innovative and practical design, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Twist's unique combination of form and function, along with its attention to detail, sets it apart in the world of furniture design.
